Collapse

Collapse (white) 2014 continues a series exploring the body as a container. The work consists of two long rectangular poly spun thermal boxes, each sized to contain the artist’s standing figure. Paired forms reference human genetic chromosome pairings. When installed, the pieces naturally fold inward, mirroring the muscular decay of sarcopenia that occurs with aging. Constructed from materials that respond to gravity, humidity, time, and light, Collapse functions as a personal geography that evolves and changes uniquely based on its environment.
