Passage (2012) is an immersive, tent-like corridor from the Notes on Self series, constructed from 120 black nylon mesh cubes. Each cube is a body-scaled geometry, precisely sized to contain the artist’s crouched figure, contemplating the “slip of space each of us occupies in the universe”. Suspended from the ceiling, the dark passageway invites viewers to walk through an inner space. Created in response to a personal loss, the piece addresses profound change by employing the concept of “continuing bonds”—the way memories bridge absence to re-shape one’s sense of self. Constructed from ephemeral materials, the individual chambers respond to gravity, humidity, and time, serving as a personal geography that continues to evolve.
