“Sac” (2005) is a sculptural articulation that employs a deliberate juxtaposition of materials to explore the body as a changing spatial condition. The piece’s materiality involves a nude-toned cotton and poly-spandex textile, functioning as a “second skin”, draped over a flesh-toned, painted wood interior frame.
The textile “sac” is strategically draped to expose the wood interior frame at the “shoulder line,” which acts as a visible skeletal armature. The frame’s core geometry is not arbitrary; its proportion is derived from an enlarged single lane of a genetic microscopy gel slide scan, establishing a dialogue between biological structure and monumental scale.
The oversized textile is pinned to negotiate its presence, rumpling onto the floor. The tension created by the clinging fabric allows the inner structure to be sensed beneath the surface, conveying the quiet, yet forceful, assertion of self within a temporary, shifting space.
